The brand-new Generation II features all of the features you know and love plus some great upgrades. Designed for maximum shade and easy setup and pack down, the Eclipse 270 can be set up by one person. Hinged from both ends, the Eclipse 270 spans along the full length of the vehicle as well as the rear, offering additional undercover area compared to other general market offerings (approx. 11.5m 2 ) With optional walls erected, up to 20.5 m 2 of a sheltered area can be achieved. Each optional wall can be set up as a wind and weather break or as an upright awning extension, allowing the Eclipse 270 to extend further up to 4.2 meters in total, featuring 2x pivoting alloy telescopic poles which are neatly stowed along the rafter when packing away. Made from Darches proven and hard-wearing proofed poly cotton ripstop canvas, a strong lightweight box tube alloy rafter system, and pivoting from heavy-duty steel and aluminium swivel hinge system, the Eclipse 270 will quickly become a favourite must-have for all serious tourers and campers alike. Area of Shelter? The awning alone covers 11.5m 2 With walls fitted, the setup covers approx. 20.5 m 2 depending on the height of the vehicle. Is it the same as other 270 awnings on the market? No. The Eclipse 270 Awning hinges from two sides, it also has a class-leading larger coverage area as the front span runs along the front of the vehicle. What is the difference between the Generation II and the original 270 awning? The canopy construct has been upgraded from a 260gsm to a 320gsm polycotton canvas. The new aluminium hinge system and box tube alloy rafters allow for an overall reduction in weight. Can walls be used as extendable awnings? Yes, both front walls are designed to be used as additional extendible awnings (poles not included). Roof Rack mounting? Mounting brackets are included and will accommodate most commercially available steel basket and flat rack set ups. (Including TJM, ARB etc.). Mounting hardware for Whisper and Rhino bars will be available for purchase separately. Whats it made of? The canvas is a Proofed poly cotton ripstop canvas as are the walls. The frame is Alloy with steel hardware. The transit cover is made of laminated 600gsm PVC. Does it need to be pegged down with guy ropes? How many guy ropes does it need? It is semi-designed to be a free stander, but we recommend that it is pegged down at all times. It has a large surface area so sudden wind gusts could become hazardous. How does it perform in a strong wind? The awning has a large surface area so sudden wind gusts could become hazardous. We do not recommend using the awning on strong wind days without pegging it down securely. Optional walls/awning extensions? Walls are sold separately. How many people are required to set up? One person. The Eclipse 270 Awning is designed as a simple 1 person set up and pack down & inclement weather may require the assistance of another person. Does it come with poles? 3 x pivoting alloy telescopic poles are included and purposely fitted under awning arms for easy access and stowing. Each rafter has a purpose-drilled hole for additional spigot-style poles if your set-up requires it or in case of an emergency. An additional 3 poles are included in a separate carry bag.
